COURSE DIRECTOR

Clay College Stoke is an exciting new venture from the Adopt a Potter Charitable Trust. Based in Middleport, the College will open in September 2017 and aims to provide a comprehensive training in the art of the potter to 14 full-time students as well as providing masterclasses and evening classes for the local community. The focus will be on core skills and use of materials as well as the development of good design and practice through research, creativity and invention.

Clay College Stoke is looking for a self-motivated and dynamic Course Director, with prior experience of teaching ceramics, to manage the design, development, organisation, and delivery of the teaching programme. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a personal mastery of, and an ability to teach, all aspects of throwing, glazing, kiln building and firing, alongside traditional hand building and decoration techniques. A flexible approach to teaching methods and a broad knowledge of historic and contemporary ceramics with a global perspective are essential. Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the college in all parts of the ceramic world and to develop and maintain strong links with local industry as well as master potters in the UK and overseas are required.

Working closely with the Business Manager, and supported by a part-time Administrator and Technician, the Course Director will report to the Trustees of the Adopt a Potter Charitable Trust and will be responsible for the successful running of the college.

BUSINESS MANAGER

Clay College Stoke is an exciting new venture from the Adopt a Potter Charitable Trust. Based in Middleport, the College will open in September 2017 and aims to provide a comprehensive training in the art of the potter to 14 full-time students as well as providing masterclasses and evening classes for the local community.

Clay College Stoke is looking for a highly-organised Business Manager to oversee the day-to-day administration of the college, including financial management, student recruitment and admissions, marketing and PR. The ideal candidate will have strong financial skills and excellent administrative and interpersonal skills and will be equally effective working independently and as part of a team.

Working closely with the Course Director and supported by a part-time Administrator, the Business Manager will report to the Trustees of the Adopt a Potter Charitable Trust and will be responsible for the successful running of the college.
