Description

Wednesday Evening Classes – suitable for first-timers and beginners

Taught by current Clay College full-time Diploma students Emily Davidson-Brett and Gareth Bromley.
The Autumn block runs for 6 weeks from October 29 – 3rd December

6:00-9:00pm at Clay College, Middleport Pottery

Learn to throw on the potter’s wheel in this entry-level evening class! Open to absolute beginners and those with some experience, this evening class will teach you how to centre clay and throw simple bowl and mug forms. During the course, our highly skilled Diploma students will be on hand to support you in creating pots you’ll be proud of – maybe even walking away with some excellent Christmas presents to give!

We will fire your 6 best pots at the end of the block in our college Gas Kiln.

Running over six weeks, this block of evening classes will focus on throwing with stoneware clay. The pots will be glazed in a beautiful selection of glazes and fired in the gas kiln.

You will make for 5 weeks, and glaze your creations in week 6 on 31st July

About the teachers:

Our Diploma students are highly skilled makers undergoing their training here at Clay College. Our full-time Diploma students run evening classes as an opportunity to gain teaching experience and to pass on the skills and philosophy they are learning on the Diploma. Two students will run each class to provide plenty of one-to-one guidance.
