Description
‘Ceramics: A Green Approach’ by Kevin Millward
What are the effects the ceramics craft has on the environment? And how do we lessen its possible detrimental impact upon it?
‘Ceramics: A Green Approach’ explores how we can be more aware and responsible in the way we source and use the planet’s finite resources, find the most effective fuels to fire work, and consider packaging materials and dispatch methods with the least possible ecological damage. Kevin hopes to introduce the reader to what could be the best way forward for our craft, and to help potters be more aware and informed so that they can leave a legacy for future generations as a mark of our creativity and a reflection of our respect for our planet and civilisation.
“It became very clear to me that the industry’s response to the use of materials and its insatiable demand for fossil fuel led to the development of more efficient ways to save fuel, whereas the craft sector has, in many cases, not responded in the same way, burning a wide range of fuels in less than efficient ways.”
