About Jynsym Ong
Jynsym is a studio potter from London who is currently based in Oxford. After completing her training at Clay College, she was awarded a scholarship to go to Japan and undertake an apprenticeship at Mitoh Gama (Kiln) in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture for two years. Inspired by patterns and surfaces found in nature, Jynsym is interested in the stories that objects have to tell and the way they enrich lives in small, everyday ways. She attempts to replicate some of these ineffable qualities by using found materials such as wood ash, rocks and clays.
