Clay College Stoke, located in the historic setting of Middleport Pottery, offers evening classes to learn the technical skills of throwing pots, within a professional studio environment.

Our Monday evening classes are aimed at an intermediate level. The class will be taught by Clay College students, Maya Hughes and Callum Forbes, who have a wealth of ceramic experience and will be there to support you in developing your throwing skills.

This intermediate course will focus on form and shape, galleries and lids to create functional pieces such as teapots. All these techniques will be demonstrated to support individual’s needs and competence levels.

Towards the end of this 5-week block, you will be asked to select up to 6 medium-sized pots for glazing and firing. Further advanced teaching on glaze technology will be offered to those interested.

Once your pots are fired they will be ready for you to collect from Clay College. All tools and materials will be provided, but please bring an apron and a towel to use during the class.

This set of classes will run every Monday from 6-9 pm starting on 17th June until 15th July.

Please note: we must allow time towards the end of the class to clean up our wheels to leave the premises by no later than 9.00 pm

Full terms and conditions for our classes can be seen here: https://www.claycollegestoke.co.uk/terms-and-conditions/
