The Ikebana Vessel

Ikebana is a form of flower arranging. Stems are set in to the spikes of the kenzan, which is contained in a vessel. These arrangements command contemplation, and an understanding of composition, form and space – all of which overlap with the needs of the potter.
The full time diploma students at Clay College Stoke were set a brief to design a vessel to arrange flowers in. The pots should compliment the arrangements which they carry. Ikebana master Junko Popham then came to Clay College to deliver a masterclass in flower arrangement, the results of which are shown here in this online exhibition. The vessels themselves are available to purchase in this one off exhibition.
