Description

Dynamic Forms with Ben Brierley

Saturday 12th July

9.30am – 4.30pm at Clay College, Middleport Pottery

Learn how to throw and assemble dynamic forms with professional potter, Ben Brierley, this July.

In this one-day masterclass, students will learn how to design expressive pots and gain confidence in assembling composite forms.

This workshop will cover:

  • Designing forms through initial drawing.
  • Throwing component parts on the wheel.
  • Hand-building elements.
  • Assembling parts to create forms.
  • Using stamps to impress designs/textures.

By the end of this course, participants will have gained confidence in handling and forming pots at both wet and firm stages which will enable greater creative freedom when designing pieces in the future.

Please note: This masterclass is aimed at improvers and intermediate potters. Participants must be able to centre clay and produce well-structured cylinders on the wheel.

We are unable to fire pieces made during this class, however, students are able to take their best pots home to fire and finish at an alternative venue. Please bring a suitable container to carry your pots home if you wish to do so.
