Clay College Stoke is very pleased to be able to offer a 1 Day Improvers Throwing Masterclass with Brian Dickenson, Saturday 10th December.

There will be a range of demonstrations as well as plenty of opportunities to practice throwing and develop your technique. The day is suitable for those who have experience in throwing, are able to centre clay, and are confident in throwing a 10cm cylinder, but who want to develop greater consistency in their throwing and learn to throw bigger and taller pots.

The class will be led by Brian Dickenson, an extremely skilled potter who has over 30 years of experience in making ceramic wares, his speciality is thrown functional wares. He has run three professional workshops producing high-fired Stoneware, mid-temperature Slipware and more recently traditional Earthenware. Brian has a wealth of experience teaching pottery at various different levels; from raw beginners to MA level students, as well as tutoring advanced practitioners wishing to overcome particular problems.

Situated in the historic Middleport Pottery, the College offers a creative environment and excellent facilities including a potter’s wheel for each student. We are not able to fire any of the pieces from this masterclass but if you would like to take 3 pieces of your work, please bring a box for safe transporting. Clay College is a not-for-profit organisation so all the proceeds from our masterclasses support the work we do.
