Clay College Stoke runs weekly mixed ability evening classes that are aimed at people who wish to learn the techniques of studio pottery in a professional working studio environment. The classes are suitable for beginners and those with experience of clay.

Situated in historic Middleport pottery, we offer a creative environment, excellent facilities including a potter’s wheel for each student that attends. We aim to teach you a variety of techniques to help you produce well-made pots.

The class will be led by Andy Mason who brings many years of expertise to help you develop your making skills & pottery interest.  As you progress he will demonstrate the relevance between technical skills, design and aesthetic considerations. These aspects are evident in his range of tableware which is at the heart of his studio work.  He also enjoys the versatility and challenge of creating small batch designs and specific commissions, as well as sharing his enthusiasm through tuition, practical demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops and social events that feature his tableware, highlighting the historical association of pottery and food.

Towards the end of each six week block you will be asked to select up to 6 medium sized pots for glazing and firing.  Once your pots are fired then they will be ready for you to collect from Clay College.

Evening classes run during college term times in 6 week blocks, on Monday or Wednesday evenings. Please note there are only 12 places available for each set of classes.
